Why Leading Online Dermatologists Choose Miiskin

online dermatologist ryan trowbridge

“One of the best things about Miiskin is continuity-of-care. Patients choose me directly, and I see them again for follow-ups, just like in a clinic. I know their medical history, I see their progress, and I adjust treatment as needed. It feels like a traditional doctor-patient relationship — only more convenient.”

“With Miiskin, I can give patients the same quality of care they’d expect in my office — just online. Whether they live in a rural town or a busy city, patients don’t have to wait weeks or months for an appointment. They get timely, thoughtful answers that truly resemble the experience of being seen in person.”

“As a new mom, Miiskin lets me provide patients with the same level of personal care I’d give in my clinic, but from home. I can carefully review cases, follow up with patients, and still be present for my baby. Patients feel reassured knowing they’re getting attentive, in-person–style care, even when it’s online.”

“With Miiskin, I can treat patients the way I would in my own practice — no corporate restrictions, no cookie-cutter protocols. That means fairer pricing and treatment plans tailored to each patient. It’s the same independence and personalization you’d expect from an in-person dermatologist, brought online.”

I’m thrilled to be using Miiskin with my patients! Miiskin saves time for my patients who have simple skin problems who don’t want to be bothered with an in-person visit. I’m especially happy with how the platform complements in-person treatment by enabling easy follow-ups with patients who have chronic skin conditions, saving time for everyone.

FAQ about the the Miiskin dermatologists

Who are the online dermatologists behind Miiskin?

Miiskin is not a medical practice, but rather a telehealth platform that connects patients with independent, board-certified dermatologists who offer online consultations. Because these physicians operate their own private practices, you can review individual credentials and choose the specific doctor who reviews your skin concern
The main dermatologists in the Miiskin network include:
  • Dr. Anna Chacon: A board-certified dermatologist licensed in all 50 U.S. states.
  • Dr. Anne Allen: A board-certified pediatric dermatologist.
  • Dr. Amit Om: A board-certified dermatologist.
  • Dr. Ryan Trowbridge: A board-certified dermatologist.
  • Dr. Trisha Khanna: A board-certified dermatologist.
  • Dr. Eric Howell: A board-certified dermatologist

Can I choose my dermatologist through Miiskin?

Yes. Miiskin allows you to choose from available dermatologists who are licensed to practice in your state.

When starting a consultation, you can review dermatologist profiles, credentials, areas of expertise, and availability before selecting the provider you would like to consult with. This allows you to choose a dermatologist whose experience and specialties best match your needs.

Please note that dermatologist availability varies by state, and some states may have a limited number of participating providers.

Can I switch to another Miiskin dermatologist?

Yes. You can switch dermatologists easily if you would prefer to consult with a different provider.

To switch dermatologists:

  1. Go to the Healthcare tab in the Miiskin app or Web Dashboard.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Switch dermatologist.
  3. Choose a different dermatologist from the available providers licensed in your state.

You may choose to switch dermatologists for a variety of reasons, such as seeking a specialist for a particular condition, obtaining a second opinion, or finding a dermatologist whose expertise better matches your needs.

Please note that any previous consultation information will not be shared with your new dermatologist. To ensure continuity of care, you should inform your new dermatologist about any diagnoses, treatments, medications, or recommendations you have previously received through Miiskin or elsewhere, so they have the full picture of your skin health history.

If no other dermatologists are currently available in your state, the option to switch may not be available.

Does Miiskin offer consultations with board-certified dermatologists only?

Yes, Miiskin partners exclusively with independent, board-certified dermatologists for all of its teledermatology consultations. Every consultation is handled directly by a specialist, rather than by general practitioners, physician assistants, or nurse practitioners.

Can you verify the qualifications of your Miiskin dermatologist?

Although Miiskin does not employ dermatologists directly, we encourage patients to independently verify the qualifications of any dermatologist they consult through the platform.

You can verify a dermatologist’s credentials using their National Provider Identifier (NPI), which is a unique identification number assigned to healthcare providers in the United States. Using the provider’s NPI, you can review publicly available information about their education, specialty, practice locations, and licensure through the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) and other healthcare directories.

Patients may also review a dermatologist’s profile on Healthgrades to learn more about their education, training, board certifications, clinical experience, and patient reviews. Board certification can be independently verified through the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or Certification Matters.

For additional information about a physician’s medical license and professional history, you may consult your state’s medical board website or use DocInfo, a service provided by the Federation of State Medical Boards.

We encourage all patients to review their dermatologist’s credentials and experience before proceeding with treatment.

Can an online dermatologist make a diagnosis from a photo?

In many cases, yes. Online dermatologists can often evaluate skin concerns using photos and information about your symptoms, medical history, and the duration of the condition. Many common skin conditions (such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, certain rashes, and some skin infections) can often be assessed through high-quality images.

However, some skin concerns may require an in-person examination, dermoscopy (a specialized skin examination), laboratory testing, or a biopsy to confirm a diagnosis.

If additional evaluation is needed, your Miiskin dermatologist will let you know and may recommend an in-person visit, laboratory testing, imaging, or other appropriate follow-up care. The dermatologist will determine whether a diagnosis can be made based on the information provided or whether further evaluation is necessary.

To improve the accuracy of an online assessment, you should provide clear, well-lit photos from multiple angles and include relevant details about their symptoms, how long the condition has been present, and any recent changes.

Who is the best Miiskin dermatologist for pediatric consultations?

If you have a skin concern and the next available in-person dermatology appointment is weeks away, online dermatology may help you receive care sooner. Many common skin conditions (including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, rashes, and other skin infections) can often be evaluated and treated through telehealth.

For pediatric dermatology consultations, Dr. Anne Allen, MD, FAAD is Miiskin’s pediatric dermatology specialist. She is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained pediatric dermatologist with specialized training in diagnosing and treating skin conditions in infants, children, and adolescents. She is also board certified in both Dermatology and Pediatric Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology.

Dr. Allen treats a wide range of pediatric skin conditions, including eczema, acne, rashes, birthmarks, psoriasis, molluscum contagiosum, warts, and other common childhood skin concerns. Her pediatric dermatology fellowship training provides additional expertise in the unique skin conditions that affect children.

If your child has a skin concern and you are looking for a pediatric dermatology specialist through Miiskin, Dr. Allen is an excellent choice. If your child’s condition requires in-person evaluation, testing, or a procedure, she will advise you on the appropriate next steps.

Should I use online dermatology instead of waiting for an in-person appointment?

If you have a skin concern and the next available in-person dermatology appointment is weeks away, online dermatology may help you receive care sooner. Many common skin conditions (including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, rashes, and other skin infections) can often be evaluated and treated through telehealth.

Through Miiskin, you can submit photos and information about your symptoms for review by an independent, U.S.-licensed dermatologist. The dermatologist will determine whether your condition can be assessed remotely and, when appropriate, provide a diagnosis, treatment plan, or prescription.

Not every skin concern is suitable for online care. If your condition requires an in-person examination, specialized testing, imaging, laboratory work, or a biopsy, your Miiskin dermatologist will let you know and recommend the appropriate next steps.

Online dermatology can be a convenient way to access expert care more quickly, while ensuring that patients who need in-person evaluation are directed to the right level of care.

Does my Miiskin dermatologist sells medications?

No. Dermatologists who provide care through Miiskin do not sell medications directly to patients.

If your dermatologist determines that prescription treatment is appropriate, they may send a prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. You are free to fill your prescription at any licensed pharmacy and are not required to purchase medication through a specific provider or service.

Your dermatologist’s treatment recommendations are based on their independent medical judgment and what they believe is most appropriate for your condition.

If you have questions about medication costs, alternatives, or insurance coverage, your pharmacist may be able to help identify available options.
