What patients say about Miiskin

Very happy with this service. Quick and easy. With someone with not the greatest insurance and super busy. This was perfect. Got my prescription next day and great advice for my condition.

What a technology! I was very impressed by the speed of communication with a doctor using the Miiskin app. Losing my hair has been my biggest concern, but I didn’t have the courage to reveal my bald spot to a doctor in person. Miiskin solved all my issues instantly. I just took a photo in my own room, uploaded it, and wrote about my concerns. That’s it. The best part is that without insurance, the consultation fee was much lower than any health insurance. I submitted my photo at midnight and received a prescription the very next morning. The doctor at Miiskin was very professional and empathetic, which really helped ease my emotional distress. Although I’m just at the beginning stage of my treatment and haven’t seen significant results yet, I feel reassured and supported. I will definitely upload my progress in 3 to 4 months to show my appreciation for the prescription from Miiskin.

Quick response from the dermatologist — I wanted a fast turnaround for a skin concern that would be more immediate than going through health insurance, making an appointment, traveling to the doctor.

FAQ about pediatric dermatologists and online consultations

More questions and answers about pediatric dermatology.

What is a pediatric dermatologist?

A pediatric dermatologist is a board-certified medical specialist who focuses on diagnosing and treating skin, hair, and nail conditions in infants, children, and teenagers. They have specialized training that combines dermatology and pediatrics, allowing them to understand how children’s skin differs from adults’ and how conditions may present or progress differently at each age. They also understand how to safely prescribe medications and treatments suitable for a child’s age.

Can a dermatologist treat children?

Yes. Dermatologists can treat patients of all ages, including children, for common skin, hair, and nail issues. However, pediatric dermatology specialists receive additional training specifically focused on diagnosing and managing conditions unique to infants and children.

Can I consult a pediatric dermatologist online?

Yes. Parents and guardians can start an online consultation on behalf of their child through Miiskin. Simply select “Minor” under the “skin problem” section when setting up a consultation on Miiskin to ensure it’s correctly arranged for your child.

When should I take my child to a pediatric dermatologist?

You should consider seeing a pediatric dermatologist if your child has persistent rashes, unusual moles, birthmarks, eczema, acne, or any other skin condition that doesn’t improve with basic care.

Can a pediatric dermatologist help with child hair loss?

Yes. Pediatric dermatologists can diagnose and treat various causes of hair loss in children, including alopecia areata, fungal infections, or nutritional deficiencies.

Can a dermatologist issue a prescription for my child online?

Absolutely. After reviewing your child’s case, the dermatologist can provide an online diagnosis and, if appropriate, prescribe medication that can be filled at your local pharmacy.

How do I start an online consultation for my child?

Simply select “Minor” under the “Skin problem” section when setting up a consultation on Miiskin to ensure it’s correctly arranged for your child.

Is an online consultation safe and effective for children?

Yes. Many common skin conditions in children can be safely diagnosed and treated through photos and detailed descriptions provided during the online consultation.

Can an online dermatologist help with chickenpox or other viral rashes?

Yes, an online dermatologist can assess your child’s rash and provide guidance or treatment if appropriate.

What does dermatitis look like on a child?

Dermatitis typically appears as red, dry, itchy, or scaly patches on the skin. In children, it often affects the face, arms, legs, or behind the knees.

Can online dermatologists treat birthmarks or hemangiomas?

Birthmarks can be evaluated and diagnosed online, but treatment (if required) typically requires an in person dermatologist.

Do pediatric dermatologists treat nail or scalp problems?

Yes. They diagnose and treat nail infections, scalp conditions like cradle cap or dandruff, and fungal infections.

How quickly will I receive a diagnosis or treatment plan online?

With Miiskin, most consultations are reviewed within 1–2 days, and you’ll receive a diagnosis, treatment plan, and prescription (if needed) directly on the platform.

Can a dermatologist make a diagnosis from a photo?

In many cases, yes. Dermatologists can often diagnose common skin conditions by carefully reviewing clear, high-quality photos along with a detailed description of symptoms, duration, and any changes over time. This process, known as asynchronous teledermatology, allows dermatologists to assess the images and provide a diagnosis and treatment plan—often within a day or two.

What is the most common skin problem in children?

Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is the most common skin condition in children. It usually starts in infancy and often presents as dry, red, itchy patches, especially on the face, elbows, and knees

What age is pediatric dermatology?

Pediatric dermatology typically covers birth through adolescence, which includes children from newborns up to 18 years old.

Can a pediatrician treat eczema?

Yes, pediatricians are well-equipped to diagnose and manage mild to moderate eczema. For more severe, persistent, or treatment-resistant cases, they may refer your child to a pediatric dermatologist.

When should I be concerned about my child's skin condition?

You can start with online care if:

The rash or skin issue is mild or not spreading quickly
Your child has a recurring skin condition like eczema, acne, or warts
You need a second opinion or guidance on over-the-counter treatments
The concern is primarily cosmetic (like mild acne or birthmark evaluation)
You want follow-up care or prescription refills for a known diagnosis

Seek in-person care if:

The skin is painful, swollen, or showing signs of infection (pus, warmth, red streaks)
A rash or lesion is spreading rapidly or your child has a fever
A birthmark or mole is changing in size, shape, or color quickly
Your child is scratching so much they can’t sleep or are breaking the skin
Treatments tried at home or online haven’t helped
There’s any concern about a serious allergic reaction or underlying illness

Are birthmarks common, and do they require dermatology treatment?

Yes, birthmarks are very common. Most are harmless and don’t need treatment. However, some types (like large hemangiomas or pigmented lesions) may require monitoring or treatment depending on their size, location, or if they’re growing quickly or causing problems.

Can children get acne?

Yes, children (especially preteens and teens) can get acne. In some cases, acne can even start in infancy (known as neonatal acne). An online dermatologist on the Miiskin network can help manage your child’s acne and prevent scarring.

What are the most common baby skin issues that lead parents to consult dermatologists online?
