Dr Amanda Oakley

Dr Amanda Oakley is the senior Dermatologist at the Department of Dermatology at Waikato Hospital, New Zealand and the CEO and founder of DermNetNZ. She also practices dermatology at the Tristram Clinic in Hamilton, New Zealand and is an Associate Professor at the University of Auckland. Amanda is also an Honorary Member of the American Academy of Dermatology and an Honorary International Member of the American Dermatological Association.

Amanda studied Medicine at Bristol University and trained as a dermatologist in Auckland, London and Durham before beginning her work as a dermatologist at Waikato in 1987 and founding DermnetNZ in 1995.

She was most recently honoured in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours list by being appointed by Her Majesty The Queen as a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services and contribution to Dermatology. She was also awarded the Google Technology Service in the Charitable Sector’s Lifetime Service Award at the New Zealand Charities Technology Awards in March 2017 and was a finalist in two categories the New Zealand Woman of Influence awards in June, 2017. Amanda was also named a top SheEO at the SheEO World Summit in Auckland, April 2018.
